We have a child with a wheat allergy who has always longed for ramen. Ramen looks so delicious, after all.
Usually, the ramen served in school lunches has a broth and toppings that he can eat, so we bring rice noodles from home for him to enjoy. Recently, my son had the chance to try authentic ramen for the first time!!
Here it is!!
This is the chicken paitan soy sauce ramen sold by Kenmin Foods Co., Ltd.’s GF RAMEN LAB (Gluten-Free Ramen Lab). Remarkably, it is a completely gluten-free product!!
The ingredients are as follows: Liquid soup [soy sauce (contains soybeans) (made in Japan), hon mirin, fermented seasoning, rice vinegar, sugar, flavoring ingredients (dashi ingredients (whole chicken, chicken bones, chicken feet), onion, garlic, green onion, ginger) / seasoning (amino acids), acidity regulator], rice noodles [rice (Thailand) / potassium carbonate, sodium carbonate], chashu [pork (domestic), soy sauce (contains soybeans), hon mirin, fermented seasoning, rice vinegar, sugar / seasoning (amino acids), acidity regulator], flavored menma [boiled menma (menma, salt) (made in China), soy sauce (contains soybeans), hon mirin, sugar, fermented seasoning / acidity regulator].
I never thought a day would come when a child with a wheat allergy could eat authentic ramen!!
I initially thought this was a frozen ramen that you could just put in a pot, but the noodles were the type that needed to be boiled.
The soup and ingredients are frozen, and you only need to heat them in hot water. Once the noodles are cooked, just combine them with the soup, and it’s ready to serve.
The chicken paitan soup has a distinct aroma!! It smells just like authentic ramen!! I had a bite from my son, and it was rich and flavorful!! This is a taste I can’t recreate at home! Of course, since my son can’t eat at restaurants due to his wheat allergy, this was his first experience!! He finished all the soup!! I’m truly grateful to Kenmin for allowing us to enjoy such ramen at home!!
If I could be a bit greedy, I would love it even more if the frozen noodles could just go straight into the pot!
